How we check
The desk writes the guides and checks the calculators against the same rules. A worked example on a guide is the sum the calculator runs. The date on a page is the day those figures were last checked.
The desk does not sell a loan, a fund, or a policy, and it does not tell you which product to buy. The method is written out on How the figures are checked.
Sources policy
Interest rates and rules come from the bank or government notice itself. Tax rates and slabs are checked against the Income Tax Department and the Finance Act. Small-savings rates are checked against the Ministry of Finance. Home-loan context is checked against the Reserve Bank of India. The source is linked on the guide or the rate page.
Daily gold and silver rates are compared across several public market-rate sources by hand before they’re published, and are always labelled indicative. They are not a jeweller’s bill, and the page does not name a private price feed. An advertisement, when one appears, does not change a number.
Update cadence
Tax pages are checked when the Finance Act or a tax notification changes a slab, a rebate, or a deduction. Small-savings rates are checked when the Ministry of Finance publishes the quarter’s memorandum. Fixed-deposit and home-loan cards are checked against the bank’s own page. The date under a bank is the day that page was read.
Gold and silver are updated when a fresh quote for that day is checked. If the quote is more than two days old, the page says when it was last updated. Petrol and diesel prices for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are updated when that day’s prices are checked. When a page changes, the date on the page changes with it.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong, write to hello@finfod.com with the page link and the official source you checked. The desk corrects the page and updates the date.
Finfod is not a chartered accountant, a SEBI-registered adviser, or a bank. Check a result with a qualified person before you file a return or sell an asset.
