- The per-kilogram line is the one to use for a kilo. Do not scale the rounded gram by 1,000 and call it exact.

Start with the market rate when you want the wholesale figure. Use the retail rate when you are standing in a Bowbazar shop. The retail rate includes a typical margin and still leaves making charges out.
Can a Bowbazar shop add a margin on top of the retail rate?
Yes. The retail rate is not a cap. The shop’s own margin, making charges and the design can all sit above it. Read the quote before you treat the card as the bill.
Is silver GST 3% on this page?
The switch adds 3% GST to the metal. It does not add making charges. If the heading on the shop’s invoice differs from the usual precious-metal heading, trust the invoice for the tax on that purchase.
What weight should I compare for a small silver buy?
Use 1 gram for a quick look, 10 grams for a small buy, and the tola row (11.66 g) when the shop spoke in tolas. The box further down prices any other weight you type.
Which figures on this page are Kolkata’s own?
